About Lodestone

Lodestone Bookkeeping & Advisory is a bookkeeping practice on Church Street in Traralgon. We are registered with the Tax Practitioners Board as a BAS agent — registration number 25737805 — and we have been operating since 2018.

We look after the books, the payroll and the activity statements for businesses across the Latrobe Valley and wider Gippsland — and further afield. Sole traders and trades, family companies, operations with a payroll and a site manager to match — every size, every industry, and every stage of a business’s life. What our clients have in common isn’t their size. It’s wanting someone competent to hand this part to — someone who picks up the phone.

The people

Who you deal with matters. We’re a team of twelve bookkeepers, all based here in Gippsland — nobody offshore. If you’d like to know who you’d be working with before you commit to anything, ring us and ask.

How we think about the work

Accuracy first. If something doesn’t reconcile, we chase it until it does. Numbers that only look right are worse than no numbers.

Say the difficult thing early. If a job isn’t making money, if the super hasn’t been paid, if the figures don’t support the plan — you’ll hear it from us first, in plain words.

Plain English. If we use a term that means something specific, we’ll say what it means. You shouldn’t need a glossary to read your own accounts.

Know where our expertise ends. We are BAS agents. We don’t prepare income tax returns, interpret awards, or give financial or legal advice. When your question needs one of those, we’ll say so and point you to the right person.

Local, in practice. You can drive to our office. We know the seasons your industry runs on and the businesses in town. If something goes wrong, there is a person you can come in and see about it.

A modern practice, run locally

The office is in Traralgon; the books live in the cloud. Live bank feeds, digital records and a shared file mean the copy we’re looking at is the one you’re looking at — so a catch-up is a conversation about the business, not a hunt for paperwork.

We use modern tools to make the work efficient and the checking tight. And every activity statement that leaves this office is reviewed and signed off by a registered BAS agent.

Where we work

We’re based in Traralgon, and most of our clients are in the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland — but the way we work travels. Most of the day-to-day happens inside your accounting file, so we look after businesses right across Australia. When it should happen in person and you’re local, it can; when you’re further away, it simply doesn’t get in the way.
