These terms cover your use of this website. They are not the terms of any work we do for you — if we are engaged to look after your books, payroll or activity statements, that engagement is governed by the engagement letter we sign with you. Where the two differ, the engagement letter wins.

This site is general information, not advice

Everything on this website is general information about what we do. It is not accounting, tax, financial or legal advice, and it takes no account of your particular circumstances — two businesses that look similar from the outside routinely need opposite answers. If something here seems relevant to you, ring us and ask about your situation.

We are registered BAS agents. We do not provide income tax advice, financial product advice or legal advice — see our services for what falls inside and outside that registration.

Keeping the site accurate

We take reasonable care to keep this site correct and current. Even so, tax and payroll rules change, sometimes at short notice, and a page written before a change may not reflect it yet.

We do not warrant that everything here is complete, current or error-free, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for loss arising from relying on it. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

If you spot something that is wrong or out of date, please tell us — we would rather fix it.

Availability

We would like the site to be available all the time and it usually is, but we do not guarantee it. It may be unavailable for maintenance, or because something outside our control has broken. The office is reachable by phone during business hours whether or not the website is.

Our content

The words, layout and design of this site belong to us. The Lodestone name and logo are ours. Where we display a third party’s mark — the Tax Practitioners Board registered agent symbol, a software partner badge, or the logo of a system we work in — that mark belongs to the organisation concerned and is used under its own terms, not ours.

You are welcome to read the site, print a page, and link to it. Please do not republish our content as your own or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse or are connected with something we are not.

Links to other sites

Where we link to somewhere else — a regulator, a software provider, a source we think is useful — we do so because we think it will help. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Impersonation and scams

Businesses like ours are impersonated. If you receive a message that appears to be from us asking you to log in somewhere, pay an account to new bank details, or send a password, treat it as suspicious and ring us on the number in the footer to check. We will never ask you for a password, and we will never notify you of changed bank details by email alone.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date they were last reviewed is shown at the foot of the page, and the version in force is whichever is published here at the time.
